As a tennis teacher and coach, I have been receiving more and more questions about tennis resources, tennis tips, tennis trainings and tennis products etc. I also receive inquiries about the best products to help individuals reach specific goals.
With these questions in mind, I created this tennis resource page to help point people in the right directions. The resources will be added on progressively so do come back frequently to check for updates. I’ve divided my recommendations into several categories.
These are the items that I personally use for my own play. When it comes to personal equipment, it's all about preference. I love these items but that doesn't mean the other brands or models are bad. You can use my list as a guide and do your own research and experiment and see what works for you.
Wilson adds another chapter to the legendary Pro Staff RF 97 Autograph - a racquet specially engineered for Roger Federer, the man who helped design it. Although it has the same target specs and outstanding playability as the original RF 97, Wilson and Federer have created an update for the ages. From its sleek black matte finish to the small silhouette of Federer and laser engraved graphics, the RF 97 is Wilson's most scrupulously detailed frame.
Do note that tennis racket is a very personal equipment. What suits me may not suit you. The best is to do your research and try out the rackets.
I love Asics tennis shoes and have been wearing them for years!
The Gel Resolution 7 is another step forward for one of the most popular tennis shoes amongst elite and club players alike. A new upper design incorporates a TPU wrap across the entire forefoot to help lock in the foot and provide the highest level of support and stability. Asics has also lowered the external heel counter in the back of the shoe to address fit issues some people had in previous versions. What continues to set this performance shoe apart from the rest though is it's all-around performance - along with exceptional support, stability and durability you're also getting a shoe that's sublimely comfortable, well-cushioned and fast-feeling.
Super thin, high-stretch felt for optimal feel. I have found Pro Overgrip to continue to offer excellent performance even when dirty and well worn. Highly recommended.
This is my favourite tennis strings. The Luxilon Big Banger ALU Power Silver is one of the top strings on tour today. It combines great durability with impressive power and amazing control. The string improves on the first generation line of polyester strings by using a co-poly construction with aluminum. The aluminum present in Big Banger ALU Power is unique to the Luxilon line, giving the string a softer feel and more playability. The co-poly construction of the string helps to retain tension and deliver a new level of elasticity never seen before from a durability string.
Do take note that polyester strings are not for everyone. If you prefer softer strings, try synthetic strings instead.
Slazenger have created the world's ultimate performance tennis ball and I agree. I use them for my own match play. The bounce is superb and long lasting. Though the price is not the cheapest compared to other brands, I am happy to spend for my own tennis matches.
A great tennis bag where I can store lots of things for my coaching and playing. Not forgetting the bright red colour to brighten your day. Here are the features:
3 main compartments for equipment and Apparel
2 large exterior pockets for personal storage
Small exterior pocket for valuables
Adjustable and removable padded shoulder strap
Tennis Coaching Tools
Whether you are beginning tennis coach, an experienced coach or a tennis parent, I am sure we need some equipment to coach our students. Below are some useful tools and equipment for your tennis lessons. If you have equipment that is not listed here, please share with me. I'll be grateful to you for sharing.
The revolutionary training aid players, parents and coaches are using to give themselves an edge. Over 90% of the game is now played with topspin because it is the only way to control the ball with pace. Mastering it unlocks an exponentially better level of tennis.
The TopspinPro combines both the kinaesthetic and visual elements essential to accelerated learning It lets you feel what it’s like to brush the ball, not hit it, and the screen forces you to keep the racket face angle constant throughout the shot.
I use it mostly for beginning tennis players. It's a easy way to help them to understand topspin and stroke production.
This is a great ball to use for kids and even some adult beginners.
Designed 15% larger with a bright yellow and red felt surface, these tennis balls offer added visibility and are easy to identify from standard tennis balls. They also help players practice hitting and returning topspin and slice shots.
These balls are 25% slower and I can use them to build tennis skills with children as well as adult beginners. These low bounce tennis balls are great for use in drills to improve technique and control with volleys, serves and ground strokes.
The trainer tennis balls that I love are from Wilson. I like the quality and they can last pretty long. Great for private and group lessons.
When coaching kids, it is best to modify the court to make it smaller. This portable tennis net is great for age 10 and under learning the game of tennis. The setup is easy and can be done in 5 minutes.
This is the cart that I use to contain more than a hundred tennis balls. This portable and compact tennis court accessory is designed for easy transport! Its sturdy yet lightweight steel powder coated wire inner frame makes it durable and easy to manoeuvre. After training I can easily store the bag and frame in the car.
I use these agility disc cones for marking out targets, hitting drills, organising students etc. As a tennis coach, this is one of the equipment that you should have in your coaching bag.
Agility ladder is a must have tool in your toolbox. It is great for developing explosive power, speed, and better footwork.

Books that I highly recommend
Amazing leaders have many exceptional habits - one of them is surprisingly simple: reading. Harry S. Truman said, “not all readers are leaders, but all leaders are readers.” I love reading both because it’s enjoyable and it plays a critical role in helping me become a better teacher, coach, father and person. I normally consume at least two books per month. I read every morning before work and I listen to audiobooks through Audible.com when I'm commuting or walking. Here are some books that I highly recommend. They are mostly tennis books and non fiction books related to personal development.
With more than 800,000 copies sold since it was first published thirty years ago, this phenomenally successful guide has become a touchstone for hundreds of thousands of people. Not just for tennis players, or even just for athletes in general, this handbook works for anybody who wants to improve his or her performance in any activity, from playing music to getting ahead at work. W. Timothy Gallwey, a leading innovator in sports psychology, reveals how to
focus your mind to overcome nervousness, self-doubt, and distractions
find the state of “relaxed concentration” that allows you to play at your best
build skills by smart practice, then put it all together in match play
Whether you're a beginner or a pro, Gallwey's engaging voice, clear examples, and illuminating anecdotes will give you the tools you need to succeed.
The Best Tennis of Your Life is an inspirational and practical guide that will help players of all levels finally master the mental game.
Author Jeff Greenwald draws from his unique background as a world-class player, sports psychology consultant, psychotherapist, and former coach to provides 50 specific tools you can immediately apply in any match situation.
Tennis Mastery is the most complete guide to learning, developing, and mastering the sport of tennis. It is a blueprint for individuals to reach their highest level of potential and sustain high-quality tennis throughout their life. I read this book in my early years of my tennis journey. It has given a good foundation to where I am today.
I love this book and have re-read this a few times. Millions of people throughout the world have improved their lives using The Magic of Thinking Big. Dr. David J. Schwartz, long regarded as one of the foremost experts on motivation, will help you sell better, manage better, earn more money, and—most important of all—find greater happiness and peace of mind.
